A Note of Support for Those Coping with Harvey and Its Aftermath

To the Rutgers University–New Brunswick Community:

Like many of you, I have watched with great concern as the crisis resulting from Hurricane Harvey unfolds in southeastern Texas. The storm, with its unprecedented rain and subsequent flooding, has wrought havoc on millions in Rockport, Houston, Galveston, and beyond.

Our deepest sympathies go out to those affected by the crisis, and we offer our strong support to our colleagues at the many institutions of higher education in Texas who are coping with this tragedy. We have many students at Rutgers, both undergraduate and graduate, who are residents of the affected areas, and we understand how concerned they must be to watch as events have unfolded.

We are working to contact each of our students from Texas to learn if they have been impacted by Harvey and connect them with the appropriate resources. Other members of our community who are seeking information about emergency services for impacted students should contact the Dean of Students Office at 848-932-2300 or at deanofstudents@echo.rutgers.edu

It is at times like these that we most clearly realize that we all have a responsibility to take care of one another. Please assist the victims of Hurricane Harvey in any way that you can.

Sincerely,

Deba Dutta
Chancellor, Rutgers University–New Brunswick
